House on Haunted Hill

Classic Movie Review:

Everyone enjoys their favorite Halloween classics. Those creepy and delightful movies that make our blood curdle.

John Carpenter's Halloween (1978) and George Romero's Night of the Living Dead (1968) are on many a list.

At Horror Treats, we also give an enthusiastic thumbs up to House on Haunted Hill starring Vincent Price. The 1959 film was produced and written by William Castle.

Price plays an eccentric millionaire who invites five people to his "haunted house" party. Whoever stays in the house for one night gets $10,000.

That's when things get interesting. Filled with screams, shocks, and good scares, this black and white horror flick still plays well with audiences. Shirley Jackson's popular book, The Haunting of Hill House, was released a year earlier, although a different plot.

House on Haunted Hill is an excellent horror film to view on a crisp Halloween night, cuddled near a warm fire with a hot bowl of chili.
