Book Review:
Stephen King has treated us with another fantastic tale, although not a horror novel in the true sense. His latest epic has its evil moments, but is largely a fantasy read in the tradition of Dark Towers.
We always feel for King's characters and fans will like Charlie Reade, a good high school kid who carries a heavy load.
Charlie meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard.
The shed serves as a portal to another world, where good is pitted against overwhelming evil.
This vintage King work is highly imaginative, and gives off Ray Bradbury, H.P. Lovecraft, and Brothers Grimm vibes.
